Martina Hingis and Timea (5th seed) reached the semifinals of the doubles event in Rio by defeating 6-3 6-0 the Taiwanese Hao-Ching Xhan and Yung-Jan Chan (3rd seed).

In the next round, the Swiss team will face the winners of the match between the Russians Kasatkina/Kuznetsova and the Czech Hlavackova/Hradecka (6th seed).
